Dave Thomas, a Rig Source employee and his family have been volunteering for the Fox Valley Hospice for more than four years. Fox Valley Hospice is a non-profit, volunteer based, and community funded organization that provides care and support to individuals facing terminal illness as well as their grieving families. The organization began in 1981, and is currently the largest volunteer hospice in the United States. Dave spends the majority of his volunteer time preparing for and photographing the organization’s annual Garden Party fundraising event. Dave’s enthusiasm for the Fox Valley Hospice, specifically the Garden Party, rapidly spread throughout Rig Source.
Rather than simply donating as previously done, the women of Rig Source Inc. took the opportunity to attend their first Garden Party Event. During the Garden Party, guests enjoyed lunch, a fashion show from local vendors, silent and live auctions, and the most popular, “basket” showcases!
Each showcase is loaded with goodies ranging in interest from electronics to travel which guarantees that one or all will catch their guest’s attention.
The Garden Party event alone raises one-quarter of the organization’s annual budget. As it currently stands, the approximate total raised for 2013 is $250,000.00 with funds still being donated. These funds, along with continued support will allow Fox Valley Hospice to achieve their mission of providing free services to all in need of hospice care and bereavement support.
