1. The RD20 is made by Atlas Copco

2. The RD20’s Powerful Feed Syetem

Atlas Copco’s patented carriage feed system is the heart of the RD20 with a full 110,000 lb. (49,896 kg) of pullback to the RD20II and 120,000 lb. (54,446 kg) to the RD20III.

With rapid feed speeds and precise weight control, you’ll benefit from the RD20’s advanced mechanics, which are designed to deliver optimum efficiency. The derrick eliminates compressive loads on the upper derrick, even at full pullback.

3. Quick Pipe Handling

Want proof of how Atlas Copco’s RD20 increases efficiency? Look no further than the fact that it only take 45 to 60 seconds to completely change or add drill pipe – a time significantly faster than that of a conventional drill rig.

4. Pure Power

The RD20 is powered by a Cummins QSK-19C, 755-hp deck engine. Here at Rig Source, we believe that Cummins engines are the most powerful and reliable engines available.

The engine, compressor and hydraulic pumps of the RD20 are mounted on a floating powerpack base rather than directly onto the chassis mainframe. According to AtlasCopco.com, “this arrangement assures proper alignment of power components and decreases wear.”

5. Versatility

A variety of options come with the RD20 including three-inch/1500psi circulation piping. The RD20 also comes equipped with connections for an auxiliary compressor and booster. Optional water-injection systems, as well as oil injection for DHD operation are available.

A couple weeks ago, Rig Source attended Geoprobe’s® open house in Salina, Kansas. Rig Source has been renting and selling used Geoprobe® units to customers for years. Geoprobes® are versatile solutions for those who need continuous soil core sampling, discrete soil sampling, coring for monitor well installations and much, much more. Geoprobe® track units are great for those who have unusual job sites too (for example on hills and in buildings).

The most popular Geoprobe® units recently purchased or rented by our customers include the: 6610DT, 6620DT, 7730DT and 7822DT units. The pictures shown here were sent in by international client, Rockwell Drilling, using a 6610DT drill purchased from Rig Source.  The job site is at a recycling plant in Homebush near the Sydney Olympic Park Stadium where the 2000 Olympics were held.

It’s hard to believe, but on April 15^th, 2012 Rig Source will celebrate its 8th year in business! Rig Source owners, Mike and Lisa Crimaldi, have worked together in the drilling industry since they were teenagers.  The Crimaldi’s began their careers at Rock & Soil Drilling where they worked for twenty years.  In 1998, they started Mid-America Drilling where they offered geotechnical and environmental drilling services.

After 6 years as contractors, the concept of selling and renting new and used drilling equipment evolved and Rig Source was born.

Today, we are celebrating 8 years in business by introducing our first product: the Terramac RT9! Terramac rubber track crawler carriers are made in North America and were created for customization of uses across a variety of industries (including general construction, drilling, oil & gas, pipeline, and more).

We are looking forward to continuing to serve all of our existing Rig Source customers in addition to meeting our first Terramac customers. We can only imagine how exciting the NEXT 8 years will be!

Bluestone Coal in Beckley, WV gets ready to take delivery of another new Atlas Copco CS1000 for coal exploration on their lease in West Virginia. This is the second CS1000 that Bluestone has purchased, the first mounted on a 6×6 truck and now this one on a 4×4 International.  Rig Source was able to fabricate a driller’s and helper’s platform on the rear of the truck and in addition to the standard W1122 Bean style pump that comes with the rig, we added a 3L6 moyno water pump on the deck.
